1,500 devotees simultaneously play damru in Ujjain, create Guinness Record

Ujjain 07 August 2024: In a remarkable event marking the holy month of Shravan, 1,500 devotees gathered at Shakti Path Mahakal Lok in Ujjain to simultaneously play the damru, setting a new Guinness World Record.

The event, which took place at 11:30 am on Monday, was organised by the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Department of the Madhya Pradesh Government.

The Guinness Book of World Records recognised this extraordinary effort, with an official announcement made at the venue. The record attempt was conceptualised  & executed by world record consultant Nischal Barot, ensuring that all criteria were met for this historic achievement.

The damru, a revered instrument believed to have been created by Lord Shiva, is known for producing spiritual sounds that are said to have created and regulated the universe. The mass playing of this sacred instrument added a profound spiritual significance to the event.

Several distinguished dignitaries, including Rajya Sabha MP Umeshnath Ji Maharaj, MP Anil Firojiya, Ujjain North MLA Anil Kaluheda, Ghatiya MLA Satish Malaviya, Ujjain Mayor Mukesh Tatwal, Ujjain Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, Municipal District Chairman Vivek Joshi and Ujjain North Legislative Assembly Convener Jagdish Panchal, graced the occasion.

The record-creating event not only highlighted the cultural and spiritual heritage of Ujjain but also brought together the community for a collective expression of devotion and tradition.
