NEW DELHI | 14th OCTOBER 2026 | BSA Motorcycles has expanded the Gold Star 650 range in India with the introduction of the new Brooklands Black Legacy Edition and Birmingham Blue Editions. Inspired by the success of the award-winning Gold Star, named MCN’s ‘Best Retro Bike’, the new editions bring fresh character to BSA’s iconic retro-roadster.
Created to celebrate key milestones in BSA’s journey, the two new Editions bring exclusive finishes, premium detailing and a distinctive character to the motorcycle that has become the cornerstone of the brand’s revival. While the Brooklands Black Legacy Edition honours the moment the Gold Star earned its legendary name, Birmingham Blue presents a contemporary expression of the Gold Star, reinterpreting its iconic DNA for today’s rider.
The Brooklands Black Legacy Edition draws inspiration from Brooklands, the historic British circuit where the Gold Star story began. It was here that BSA rider Wal Handley’s record-breaking performance in 1937 earned the coveted Gold Star badge, a distinction that would go on to inspire one of motorcycling’s most enduring names. Finished in deep black with elegant gold pinstriping across its chrome-finished fenders and chrome-accented tank, it is further distinguished by a quilted seat and premium detailing that enhance its presence.
The Birmingham Blue pays tribute to Birmingham, the city where BSA’s story began. From its origins as Birmingham Small Arms to the motorcycles that would carry the BSA name around the world, the city has remained at the heart of the brand’s identity. Finished in a rich deep blue paint scheme, the Birmingham Blue Edition features an exclusive patinated silver side-panel badge and a bespoke engine finish, offering a contemporary expression of the Gold Star’s iconic DNA while retaining the character that has defined the motorcycle for generations.
At the heart of both motorcycles is the acclaimed Gold Star platform. Powered by BSA’s 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, the Gold Star delivers 45hp Power and 55Nm of torque, combining effortless performance with the unique character that only a big single can offer. Premium components including Brembo brakes, dual-channel ABS and wire-spoke wheels continue to underpin the motorcycle’s retro-roadster credentials.
Mr. Anupam Thareja, Co-founder, Classic Legends, said, “The Gold Star embodies everything we believe a modern retro-roadster should be. From its authentic British design to the distinctive experience of its big-single engine, every element reflects the craftsmanship, engineering and attention to detail that have defined the Gold Star for generations. The Brooklands Black Legacy Edition honours the moment when the Gold Star earned its legendary name, while Birmingham Blue offers a contemporary expression of the Gold Star, reinterpreting its iconic DNA for today’s rider. Together, they represent two distinct chapters of the Gold Star story, united by the heritage and individuality that remain central to BSA.”
