Hon’ble Justice Subramonium Prasad, Judge of the High Court of Delhi, stated in the inaugural address, “IP rights must protect innovators, but we must remember all innovations are built upon previous discoveries, creating a chain of human ingenuity spanning generations. IP rights are a commitment to reward creativity, while ensuring that fruits of human ingenuity benefits not just individuals or corporations, but society as a whole. Prof. Srividhya Ragavan of Texas A&M School of Law gave great insights on IP strategies, observing, “Using IP correctly adds tremendous value to innovation. Thus, as an innovator, your product and services will only maximize on using legal and IP rights strategically. And as a lawyer, your oath requires you to help clients maximize the value of their creations as well.”

Shri Prakalpa Sharma, Deputy Registrar (Law) at IIT-Kanpur, discussed challenges in trademark law and data privacy, and highlighted the importance of “thorough research being key to lawyers’ never-ending quest to stay updated with legislations, case laws, and global best practices.”

In his closing address, Prof. Dr. Avinash Dadhich, Founding Director of the School of Law, gave his vision of fostering legal literacy and legal capacity building. He emphasized the institution’s focus on industry-academia collaboration, equipping industry with the knowledge and cutting edge research and enabling students to prepare for legal global challenges.
