Surat, 26 June 2024 : The city of Surat is set to witness a new celebration of ‘Fit to Hit’ and ‘Say No to Drugs’ on June 30. The occasion is the SK Surat Marathon, where over 10,000 runners will run with a message of health awareness. All preparations for the marathon are complete. There is special enthusiasm for the marathon not only among the youth but also among homemakers. The sight of young people running on the streets early in the morning is enough to gauge the craze for the marathon.
This is the first edition of the SK Surat Marathon, organized under the joint auspices of IIEMR and SK Finance. The bib distribution will take place on May 28. On June 30, the marathon will be flagged off by Home State Minister Harsh Sanghvi and Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi.
Prize Money Over INR 1.25 Lakh at Stake
The SK Surat Marathon features a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km 10K run, and a 5 km Surat
Spirit Run. All timed runs are categorized into male and female categories. The winner of the 21 km half marathon will receive INR 21,000 along with Decathlon Jog Flow 190 shoes and other gift hampers. The first runner-up will receive INR 11,000, and the second runner-up will receive INR 5,100.
Similarly, the winner of the 10 km 10K run will receive INR 11,000 along with Decathlon Jog Flow 190 shoes and other gift hampers. The first runner-up will receive INR 5,100, and the second runner-up will receive INR 2,100.
The winner of the 5 km Surat Spirit Run will receive a prize money of INR 5,100 along with a gift hamper, the first runner-up will receive INR 2,100 along with a gift hamper, and the second runner-up will receive INR 1,100 along with a gift hamper. The 3 km Dream Run is open to everyone. Registration for youth and women is free.
Runners from Across the Country to Participate
Runners from all over the country are coming to Surat to participate in the SK Surat Marathon. The gathering has already begun. Pacing runners include MangeshAher, Roshan Patel, Manish Katyal, and Raju Meshram from Mumbai, who will participate in the 21 km half marathon.
Moulik Shah from Ahmedabad, Hemant Damania from Mumbai, ShaliniSethi, and Chaps Prajapati will be pacing in the 10 km category.
