Strengthening Commitment to India’s ‘Skill India Mission’ by Fostering Grassroots Skill Development
Vijayapura 25 January 2025: As part of its continuous efforts to bridge the gap between industry and academia,Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with B.L.D.E.A’s V.P. Dr.P.G.Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on campus. This initiative aims to equip students with practical knowledge and technical expertise in engines, powertrains, and their functionalities. By aligning academic learning with real-world industry demands, TKM aims to foster innovation, drive skill development, and prepare a future-ready workforce capable of addressing the evolving needs of the automotive sector.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Government of Karnataka, Dr. M. B. Patil, Dr.V. G. Sangam, Principal – BLDEA’s V.P. Dr. P.G. Halakatti College of Engineeringalong with Mr.Sudeep S Dalvi,Chief Communication Officer, Senior Vice President & Head State Affairs, and other senior officials.
Guided by Toyota’s global philosophy of excellence, the CoEis designed to provide students with immersive, hands-on training in automotive technology. The CoE will feature cut-section models of Toyota engines, transmissions, and powertrain components, along with do-it-yourself setups, enabling students to assemble and disassemble these systems while gaining in-depth knowledge of automotive mechanisms. To further enhance academic research and practical learning, TKM will equip the facility with advanced engine, transmission, and powertrain cut sections.
In addition, TKM will also organize extensive training programs for both teachers and students, equipping them with the latest knowledge and skills in automotive technology. The Center of Excellence (CoE) will feature a meticulously designed curriculum supported by expert trainers, cutting-edge facilities, and advanced equipment to deliver industry-leading skill education. To further enhance learning, comprehensive manuals will be provided to ensure clarity and in-depth understanding of complex concepts. Additionally, the initiative places a strong emphasis on faculty capability development, empowering educators with the necessary tools and expertise to impart high-quality training. This holistic approach reaffirms TKM’s commitment to fostering innovation, equipping students with industry-relevant skills, and nurturing a highly proficient workforce ready to meet the demands of the ever-evolving automotive industry.
