Purva Mantri Emerges as the Global Female Voice of Indian Festivities

MUMBAI | 23rd SEPTEMBER 2025: Acclaimed folk-pop artist Purva Mantri is fast emerging as one of the most prominent female voices taking India’s festive traditions global. With her ongoing Dandiya Purvastic Tour across the United States, Purva has carried the sounds of Garba, Hanuman Chalisa, Vitthala chants, and invocations of Lord Mahadev across Chicago, Atlantic City, Seattle, Los Angeles, Virginia, and Houston, positioning herself as a cultural ambassador of India’s festivals and traditions.

Purva’s rise in a field where female representation at the top remains limited marks a significant moment. She is not only reviving age-old devotional and folk traditions but also reinventing them with contemporary sounds that connect with younger audiences abroad. Her performances are drawing packed venues, where families, students, and the Indian diaspora come together to celebrate India’s festivals.

Speaking about the US tour, Purva said, “I am truly thrilled by the amazing response to the Dandiya Purvastic Tour everywhere we have been. Carrying the sounds of Garba and showcasing the beauty of traditional and devotional Indian music before audiences from diverse cultures has been an honour. As a woman in music, I feel a deep responsibility to ensure our traditions are celebrated in new ways that connect with today’s generation.”

During the tour, Purva also performed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s celebrated poem, Aavati Kalay. She was chosen by the Prime Minister after he came across her work and recognised her ability to carry India’s cultural essence across borders.

Following her US tour, Purva will headline a marquee Garba event in Ahmedabad during Navratri, further strengthening her position as the leading female voice of India’s festive and devotional music.
