GUJARAT, AHMEDABAD | 14th AUGUST 2025: With the Independence Day–Janmashtami weekend offering an extended break for many, Gujarat has recorded a 23% increase in bus bookings, as per data from the redBus platform. The surge points to an increasing inclination toward intercity bus travel during festive periods, influenced by factors like ease of access, quicker journeys, and better connectivity across the country.
Between August 5–18, 2025, Gujarat has witnessed an uptick in bookings compared to the same period last year, when the corresponding festive window spanned August 13–26, 2024. The city has emerged as one of India’s key departure hubs for Independence Day and Janmashtami travel, reinforcing its role as a major intercity transit point.

Demographics:
- Female travellers accounted for 29% of total bookings, with over 52% representation from the young adult (21–35) age group.
- Of all the women travelling in this time period, 35% are travelling alone.
- Male travellers contributed 71% of total seats, with over 58% between the ages of 21–35.
