SmartHomes Launches ‘Green SmartHomes. Green Dholera.’ Initiative, Commits to Facilitating Plantation of Over 5 Lakh Trees

DHOLERA, GUJARAT | 25th JUNE 2026 | As Dholera Smart City steadily transforms from a visionary concept into one of India’s most ambitious urban development projects, Smart Homes Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. has announced a significant environmental commitment aimed at ensuring that sustainability grows alongside development.

Under its flagship initiative, “Green Smart Homes. Green Dholera.”, the company has pledged to facilitate the plantation of more than 5 lakh trees across Dholera and its surrounding region over the coming years. The initiative reflects Smart Homes’ long-term vision of contributing to a greener, healthier, and environmentally resilient ecosystem while supporting the growth of India’s first Greenfield Smart City.

Dholera is rapidly emerging as a next-generation economic and industrial hub, attracting investments across sectors such as renewable energy, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, logistics, smart infrastructure, and sustainable mobility. Large-scale projects including the Dholera International Airport, Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, semiconductor manufacturing facilities, renewable energy parks, industrial zones, educational institutions, healthcare infrastructure, residential communities, hospitality projects, and commercial developments are steadily taking shape across the region.

While these developments are expected to accelerate economic growth and create new opportunities, smart Homes believes that sustainable urban development must go beyond infrastructure and technology. According to the company, environmental stewardship must remain an integral part of Dholera’s growth story.

As industrialisation, urbanisation, logistics networks, manufacturing clusters, and commercial activity continue to expand, maintaining ecological balance will become increasingly important. smart Homes believes that afforestation, biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration, and the creation of sustainable green assets will play a critical role in ensuring long-term environmental well-being.

Recognising this responsibility at an early stage of Dholera’s development journey, the company has begun taking concrete steps towards building a greener future.

As part of its ongoing efforts, smart Homes recently submitted details of its plantation activities under the Government of India’s Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment) campaign, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” The company has already planted more than 3,000 trees at its flagship township project, Dholera Forest Estate, which forms part of a larger vision to create a green ecosystem comprising nearly 40,000 trees within the development.

In addition, smart homes plan to undertake the plantation of approximately 1 lakh trees at Dholera Resort Estate, further strengthening its sustainability-driven approach towards real estate development. These projects represent the foundation of a broader environmental vision that extends beyond individual developments and seeks to benefit the entire region.

The company also intends to collaborate with educational institutions, environmental organisations, local communities, resident groups, and other stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and encourage greater community participation in afforestation initiatives. Through these collective efforts, smart Homes aims to create a movement that inspires long-term environmental responsibility across Dholera and neighbouring areas.

Speaking about the initiative, Rupinder Singh Khurana, Founder and Director of smart Homes Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., said that the company’s association with Dholera goes far beyond business interests.

“Dholera is not merely a destination where we conduct business. We have been associated with this region since its inception and have witnessed its evolution from a concept on paper to a city taking shape on the ground. For us, Dholera is not just a place of business; it is an emotion and a responsibility,” he said.

He further noted that the city is only at the beginning of its development journey and that the coming decades will witness unprecedented growth in infrastructure, industry, logistics, manufacturing, and urban development.

“To maintain environmental balance alongside this growth, Dholera will require not thousands but millions of trees. Someone had to take the first step, and we felt there was no reason to wait. Our vision is simple—as Dholera grows into one of India’s most important economic ecosystems, its green cover must grow alongside it,” he added.

Sharing her perspective on the initiative, Meenakshi Khurana, Director of smart Homes Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., said that sustainability has always been central to the company’s philosophy.

“For us, sustainability is not a campaign; it is a responsibility that comes with being a long-term stakeholder in Dholera’s journey. We have always believed that real estate development should contribute towards creating communities, ecosystems, and a better future for generations to come,” she said.

According to her, the Green smart Homes. Green Dholera. initiative is intended to contribute towards building an environmentally resilient city where development and environmental stewardship work together rather than compete with each other.

Beyond plantation activities, the initiative also envisions creating a broader green ecosystem that contributes to biodiversity enhancement, improved air quality, soil conservation, climate resilience, and carbon sequestration. smart Homes believes that environmental infrastructure must evolve alongside physical infrastructure if Dholera is to become a global benchmark for sustainable urban development.

As Dholera continues its journey toward becoming one of India’s most important urban, industrial, and innovation ecosystems, smart Homes remains committed to ensuring that nature and sustainability remain at the heart of its growth story. Through the Green smart Homes. Green Dholera. initiative, the company hopes to inspire collective action and demonstrate that the future of development lies in balancing economic progress with environmental responsibility.

For smart Homes, building a smart city is not only about creating roads, industries, airports, and buildings—it is equally about creating a thriving ecosystem where people, nature, and progress can coexist sustainably for generations to come.
